It can be tricky knowing what to expect with a matte screen protector. There are a few different kinds on the market, but they all fall into a similar vein of making the screen more matte, more grippy, and easy to draw.
It is what it says it is. A screen protector with a matte finish. It helps cut down on smudge marks and glare and creates a friction on the surface to make it easier to draw. Drawing straight onto the iPad’s glass surface can result in unsteady linework and the feeling of less overall control over the piece. By using a matte screen protector, you give yourself a textured surface for the pencil to stick to.
Also, these are all for iPad Pro, but there will be matte protectors for other iPads and tablet devices. These are just the ones I've personally used.

I haven't linked anything here because this isn't a shop and also not everything ships everywhere, and stock of specific products fluctuate. Searching these brand names and your iPad model on your internet storefronts of choice should find you what you’re after.
I’ve tried a fair few number of screen protectors across my iPad use since 2017. I’m an iPad Main, I press moderately hard and I have an 11 inch version, so mostly use it in my lap curled up. Please note these are my extremely biased opinions based on personal preference, memory, and my own buying history. There are definitely more kinds out there, but these are just the ones I’ve bought and used myself.
